A little more info
Sonja called today to say she received an email from China. It was confirming that our confirmation letter or LOA (letter of acceptance) should arrive this week. What is this you ask? Well it is NOT a travel approval. Starting January 1st the CCAA decided they needed to add one more step to the special needs process. They want to be sure, that we are sure, that we really want to adopt the child we already sent in a letter of intent to adopt. Go figure!? Anyway... this is the last step. We sign it and send it back to China and then they send us travel approval. Hey, I'm just going by what they tell me...I'm not making this stuff up. Other families, who have signed and sent back the letter (from other agencies), have received their travel approval in anywhere from a week to three weeks later. Thus far we have not followed along in the same time frame as other families, so I am not going to get my hopes too high. Also as a little side note... Chinese New Year is the third week of February. They stop working after the 15th and take a holiday until the 26th. If they don't send out our travel approval by the 15th (takes two business days to get here) then it won't get out until the last week of February. We are thinking we'll travel in March, but that is just a thought...nothing else. So there you have it. When the actual LOA arrives (it didn't come today) we'll let you know. Otherwise keep praying, please and thank you.
Oh yeah, for those of you in sub zero temperatures right now... it is currently reading 79F on our thermometer. Suntan lotion anyone? :)
