First plane ride

Sure it looks innocent enough (or should I say she looks innocent), but that's not what the rest of the passengers on the plane would say. Yep, the last thirty minutes we ran out of tricks and she ran out of patients. We tried to hold off on the bottle until landing, but we needed to run some interference early on and ended up with a loud wail for the last half hour. We didn't get to the hotel until after 8pm (Mel's bedtime) and then she was overtired and stressed and wouldn't give it up until about 9pm. Mark and I were tired and stressed too, but nobody would listen to us cry so we just went to bed silently (and hungry.) Let's just say Mark's birthday 2007 is one we will not likely forget for many reasons. Our toughest day at parenting to say the least.

Today (Saturday in China) we had an appointment for Melanie to get a medical exam and photo for her visa to travel to the U.S. Believe it or not she did very well for all three of her exams. First exam consisted of listening to her heart and lungs and checking over her entire body. Then we went to the ENT. Everything was going well until they tried to stick a tongue depressor in her mouth. We ended on a good note with weight check (19.3 lbs), height (29 inches) and temp. (97.7F). She passed with flying colors and is now catching up on some zzzzz's. We get to relax until Monday and do our own thing. We're hoping to explore after nap time,but it's raining here today in Guangzhou. I think our little sunshine could use a little sunshine of her own.
