Adoption Day

It's now official. Melanie Jin Shun Huffman is our daughter. Luckily we were the first family of many (from other agencies) to show up at the civil affairs office. We were in and out within 25 minutes and originally were told to expect to be there a couple of hours. The last picture is with the director of the orphanage (to my left) after completion of all the paperwork. Melanie is pretty low key today. She slept from 7:30p to 5:00am, only waking up once around 1am for some water and some comforting. When she woke this morning we brought her to our bed and she fell back asleep while rolling around to get comfy (the first picture posted.) When we got her up around 6am she was pretty cranky and unsure of her environment. She has slept most of the morning. Please say some prayers to get her healthy quickly. Tomorrow we get to go to the orphanage and Thursday we'll get a tour of Nanjing. The rest of the time is free for us to explore and spend time getting to know our little girl. She's stuck with us now. We gave our promise to the Chinese government official that we would never abandon her. A promise is a promise. We'll try to keep the pictures coming. I know that's the best part. Hopefully Melanie will start feeling better so you can see how much fun we've been having with her. Yesterday afternoon we got her laughing pretty hard. She was showing off her toothy grin for us. She makes it pretty easy for us to fall in love with her.
