One step closer to home

Today we received Melanie's visa to enter the U.S. and the papers needed at customs and immigration. Once we pass through in LAX, Melanie is automatically a U.S. citizen. We'll receive a certificate of citizenship in about 6 weeks and then we can apply for her social security number and U.S. Passport. To get home, she is traveling on her Chinese Passport (which we received in Nanjing.) She is actually considered to have dual citizenship as far as China is concerned.

The first picture is taken in the hotels atrium next to the restaurant where we eat breakfast everyday. There are large fish in the water below. The second picture is taken out of the 11th story window. These are window washers (not sure what the bamboo sticks were for). Next is a picture of us with our guide Grace, outside of the building where the U.S. Consulate is located. And most importantly is little Miss Melanie showing us what a bad hair day looks like. She decided not to let a little thing like that get her down.
